Since April 2013, we test the possibility of using micro-controller cards Raspberry for the realization of detection video stations.
With the utilisation of Arduino cards for the detection stations UFOCatch ® V1 and V2, we got significant experience in development and programmation. So we tested several hardware and software configurations.
Today, one of our stations is equipped with a mini router allowing access to the informations provided by the camera, by Wi-fi network, or by 3G mobile network. The characteristics of the camera are : 5mp; capture : 30 frames per second. Other models are being tested, with USB cameras and CCTV type cameras.
These technical solutions allow to develop automatic detection stations “ready-to-use”, with a cost very close to 200 euros.
